Bonds shows some heart

Barry Bonds' legal troubles are far from over. His baseball career ended prematurely, obviously before he could not longer be a productive player. No doubt a tremendous amount of bitterness exists for Bonds towards the media and fans alike who regard him as baseball's enemy number 1.

None of that stood in the way of Bonds doing something about a month ago that only now has become known to fans and media. Bonds visited a single father of two in the hospital, spent an hour with him and left a signed baseball bat for his children. According to the man's lawyer Bonds also donated to pay for the college educations for both children.

Up until April 22nd Bonds had never met the man, neither had many of us nationwide.

The man in the hospital is Bryan Stow, a Giants fan who was brutally beaten outside of LA Dodgers Stadium after the season opener. Stow was initially in a coma and a lawsuit from Stow against the Dodgers and Frank McCourt has been filed alleging total disregard for public safety.

Bonds and other members of the Giants have offered their assistance as you can read here.

I do not think Bonds did this with any thought of earning praise from the media or favor from the fans. He's not nearly the "bad guy" that many make him out to be.

Drayton McLane gets blasted

Well-respected baseball analyst/reporter Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports fires a series of bullets at outgoing Astros owner Drayton McLane.

"When it came to baseball, Drayton McLane really had no idea what he was doing."

Watch the video for more. A lot of success with McLane, but a lot of truth in this critique as well.

How do you spell Bynum? P.U.N.K.

If you think Andrew Bynum just had one brief lapse last night when he viciously elbowed JJ Barea of the Mavs...then watch this. This was just two months ago. The league hit him with a 2-game suspension. Shockingly, Phil Jackson thought that suspension was too harsh. Phil won't have to concern himself this time, since he's retiring, but expect a minimum of 5 games to start next season - but I'm gonna say they give him 10.

Here's Bynum flagrant foul from March against the T-Wolves Michael Beasley.

Weigh in on the topic here or bust off a call to us as we discuss on the show.

Scary stuff w/ Mother Nature

Crazy, scary, troubling video from the natural disasters in Japan and now Hawai'i and the West Coast. Not sure that everyone realizes the horrific destruction of these ongoing events.

Best thing you'll see all day.

This. Is. Fascinating.
Charlie Sheen is clean.
Well Charlie Sheen says he's clean.
You be the judge.
I think at this point - I'd just steer clear of Charlie.

Best things about the Oscars - Kimmel's Aftershow

There were a bunch of movies nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars last night - I haven't seen any of them. It's pretty rare that I do. But that doesn't mean I don't look forward to the Oscars. I look forward to them being over - so Jimmy Kimmel can make it all worth it with parody videos. He had several of them this year, again thanks to some pretty big stars.

He killed it last year with the Handsome Men's Club. Click here for a reminder of that awesomeness.

He upgraded the eye candy this year as you'll see here. A couple Jessicas, a Minka & a fantastic-looking Scarlet J.

He also got Tom Hanks in on the parody fun.

Mike Tyson showed up and poked some fun, too. This one is very strong.

Back to the show - here was the only worth remembering from the Oscars 2011. An FCC violation.

NFL Experience at Super Bowl XLV

After the show today, MJ & I decided we needed to make our way over to the NFL Experience. That is over at the Dallas Convention Center so we braved the elements and walked very carefully through the icy streets, caught the DART (Dallas Rail System is actually useful) and into the Experience we went.

Here are the videos and pictures to prove it.
The Texans make their 2nd round selection in the 2011 draft and it's a shocker!!

A SportsTalk 790 production of Where's Wade?

Now on to your guided tour of the event in three parts.
Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

And the pictures...
Here's the best legends jersey that can be had for a shade over 3-hundy...

The Super Bowl has been in Houston not once, but twice...here's the ticket from the first stop in H-Town.

Yes they sell cheeseheads.

Tony Romo can't be enjoying this.

One more day of shows from Radio Row. We'll talk to you from 6-10am.

Steelers Media Session at TCU...yes, TCU

Of all the places for Fort Worth to showcase during the Super Bowl as the city hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers, I have to admit driving through the TCU campus for the first time in my life and reaching our destination I was not too impressed. Daniel-Meyer Coliseum was the site for the Steelers media session late this morning. I'll just say it was an interesting choice. But anyway...

We arrived just after Coach Tomlin and Ben Roethlisberger had their solo avails with the assembled media so at that point it was a free-for-all with the remaining coaches and players. I spent a few minutes with some of the offensive guys.

Here's my interview with Steelers WR Mike Wallace

This is Emmanuel Sanders fielding questions from our very own morning show co-host Matt Jackson.

Also have this for you - Did you know that Steelers LB James Farrior has a bad case of Bieber Fever?

Farrior also answered legit questions from his teammate Willie Colon...and needed help answering a little Steelers trivia.
