6-10 Things To Tell You

1. This is a series that finally is make or break. The Reds have a 5 game lead over the Astros. They've beaten the Astros 7 of 9 times. There's your five game spread. Must win 2 of 3. The clock is ticking.

2. While the Astros have finally shown a willingness to make a flurry of roster moves, they don't make a lot of sense. Jason Lane has no business in a starting line-up ever, and that's being nice instead of saying he currently has no business even being on a roster. He was worthless at the plate in April, he was worthless when he was demoted, and he's worthless now. Hitless as a non-pinch hitter since his return.

3. Wandy Rodriguez is getting a second turn in the rotation?!?!?!? What!?!?!? 4 straight starts allowing at least 4 runs - and that doesn't include his 6.92 ERA at AAA!!!!! When did Drayton McLane hire Ray Charles as GM and Stevie Wonder as manager?!?!?!?

4. BTW - Mitch Talbot, the so-called non-prospect in the Aubrey Huff deal is not long for AA ball with the Biscuits.

5. As I said before, please stop writing/saying/thinking/guessing that anyone Team USA is among the favorites at the world championships. They are an overwhelming favorite and they will not lose a game.

6. While we're on favorites, you can stop with the Phil is catching Tiger bit. It's embarassing. Tiger has now won all 4 majors by at least 5 shots. Someone must let some of the writers/analysts know that there is a teensy bit of mental toughness that plays into the golf game. Tiger is the strongest mentally and has been for ever tournament of his life, other than the lone major he missed the cut at following his father's death - and even then he was probably stronger than Phil.

7. Your eyes are not deceiving you, David Carr has not looked good in either preseason game, both against very suspect defenses.

8. The Texans will be fine at RB, between Vernand Morency, Wali Lundy and whatever they get from Domanick Davis, the running game will not be a problem. Just don't draft one in your fantasy league, none will be a true number one until at least 5-6 games into the season.

9. One last thing, this season of Laguna Beach is not going to be up to snuff.
