No Deal!! What's The Deal??

Foolish.
That is the kindest way to describe how the Astros brass look after yesterday's trading deadline passed without the team making even a minor move to improve the club.
Foolish to think a team playing at a 30-47 clip over the last 77 games. Add 4 games to that list and you've go half a season - that is a terrible run for any team, let alone one that is the reigning National League Champions.
Foolish to think entertaining discussions with any team once Roy Oswalt's name comes up is not going to harm your club and your relationship with Oswalt as you eventually begin negotiating a long term deal.
Foolish if they really believe under any circumstances this team is better off without Oswalt as the ace. He's the best pitcher in the NL since he arrived as a starter. And somehow the Astros think they don't need that??????
If the Astros re-sign Oswalt to a long term deal, and it's going to mean making him the highest paid pitcher in the NL, then kudos to them. But they better make it happen now, instead of after the season. After which Oswalt has already said numerous times he'll test the market.
Look it is true that the team somewhat handcuffed GM Tim Purpura by playing like total garbage the last 3 weeks. How is Purpura supposed to make a level deal when Ensberg is hitting terribly and injured, or Huff as he hits .224, or Lane afer he's demoted, or Lidge as he continues to blow........saves.
Foolish to think lightning will strike not once, not twice, but three times and the Astros will finish with a kick of something like 37-20 or better to claim the wild card berth.
