Quick Hits:Pointless Pro Bowl, Rockets National Perception...

I said last night that the Rockets game against the Mavericks was not that important in the grand scheme of things. Win or lose. I still think that is true, although I may have overlooked one small detail that came out of the embarrassing 21 point defeat. Maybe, just maybe the uninformed national media will realize the Rockets are not better without Yao.

When you lose an MVP candidate, you cant really expect to beat the best teams - and really that's all anyone should be concerned with. This year is all about beating the Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Lakers or Jazz. Those are the only five teams the Rockets could conceivably lose to in the playoffs of healthy. Also realistically they are almost assured of facing either the Spurs, Jazz or Lakers right out of the gate. There is no other simpler way to put this. The Rockets chances of beating any of those teams does not go up if Yao Ming is wearing a nice suit.

Why does the NFL even play the Pro Bowl? Nobody watched, the players don't care and look what happened - Drew Brees dislocated his elbow. OK, I know it was his non-throwing arm but still. I said nobody watched but to be truthful I did see snough of it to notice the joke that was taking place in the trenches. There is no blocking going on at all. If a defensive player wants a sack - he can have it. It is silly.
