Respect the NIGHTSHIFT POWER 16

It only took 5 weeks for at least one person in the national media to come around. SI.com's Stewart Mandel release his latest college football power rankings and for the first time all year, he realized something. The NIGHTSHIFT POWER 16 was right. LSU should be #1. Somehow in his long detailed explanation of why he finally elevated them to the top spot, he neglected to mention he saw our POWER 16 post from Monday with LSU sitting in their familiar spot on top.

Want some PRE, pre-season excitement Rockets fans? How 'bout Shawn Marion trying to cripple the Suns chances of competing in the west by saying he wants out of Phoenix. I'm not sure what kind of deal they think they'll be able to get, especially since they're too late on Kevin Garnett, but I feel pretty good about thinking moving Marion out for anyone will not make them a better team.

Thumbs up to MLB for giving umpire Mike Winters the heave-ho for the rest of the regular season. You didn't miss the whole Milton Bradley incident did you? And Bradley's explanation? This is the entire release...
Major League Baseball announced today that Umpire Mike Winters has been suspended for the remainder of the 2007 regular season for his conduct during Sunday's game between the Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres at PETCO Park in San Diego.
Nice start by baseball, now I'd better not see him umpiring games in the postseason. By the way, did you know he was slated to to be part of the umpiring crew for the Padres final series of the season?!
