MLB playoffs begin with the two hottest teams in baseball (Rockies vs. Phillies) playing one another to get the ball rolling. And with that...my predictions...
NL
Rockies vs. Phillies: Rockies in 5 - Outside of Cole Hamels there isn't a single starter or reliever on the Phillies that I have any confidence in. I love Howard, Utley & Rollins, but Holliday, Atkins & Tulowitzki aren't far behind. Plus the Rockies have been playing win or go home games for three weeks --- winning 14 of 15 just to get here.
Cubs vs. D'Backs: D'Backs in 4 - Even though the Cubs really do have a very good balanced team, I just have a bad feeling about them heading into the postseason. Zambrano can be great, but in a matchup against Brandon Webb - I'll take Webb. The D'Backs are least imposing team in the playoffs, but no one approaches them in the scrappiness category and their bully has been awesome and no one knows it. They'll find a way to roll past the Cubs and just for drama, they'll get it done at Wrigley.
AL
Angels vs. Red Sox: Sox in 5 - The Sox chose to go with the schedule that allows them to use a 3-man rotation of Beckett, Dice-K & Schilling. The Angels counter with Lackey, Escobar & Weaver which should make for an awesome series. As long as Gagne doesn't get in the way of trying to get the ball to Papelbon then the Sox just have a little bit more than the Angels in this one. Just about everybody in the Sox lineup is capable of doing something great with the bat.
Yankees vs. Indians: Yankees in 4 - I'm sure some our hoping that the Yankees get crushed in games 2 and 3 since Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens are the scheduled starters. Anyone remember Roger's last postseason appearance? But even if they do stink and even if Sabathia & Carmona are good - I still think the Yankees offense is too overwhelming. That is provided A-Rod shows up - but I think he will.

2 Big 12 Showdowns this week, and that doesn't include the Texas-OU game in Dallas. Nebraska goes to Missouri on Saturday night. It'll be high-scoring, expect Chase Daniel and Sam Keller to post ridiculous numbers but a costly turnover with give Mizzou the edge. The 2 undefeated teams in the North meet in Aggieland as OSU visits. The Aggies have to have this one, since the schedule gets a whole lot tougher after this (@Tx Tech, @ Neb, Kansas, @ OU, @ Mizzou, Texas). The Aggies will get it done.

Meant to get this in before the first Cubs game, but I doubt anyone needed an excuse to get liquored up.The crew at Bugs and Cranks present the Cubs postseason drinking game.
