(2:53pm) Fred Bennett makes a great play on 3rd down to force the Titans punt. (Titans now 5-14 on 3rd down - that's winning football). Too bad the Texans decided to send David Anderson back to receive a punt for the first time all year. With no one near him, he muffed the catch and the Titans recovered at the Texans 33. 4 turnovers on the Texans, and both of the two lost fumbles were unforced.
-------------------------------------
(2:48pm) Rosenfels started 1-5 with 2 INT. Since he's gone 12-14, 2 TD to cut the score to 32-22 with 8 minutes remaining. We commented during the Titans last drive how it was ludicrous for the Titans call pass plays on 2nd and 3rd down, which stopped the clock for Houston. Hard to believe the Texans are still in it, but that's what Fisher gets for kicking field goals all day.
--------------------------------------
(2:33pm) Surprised that Kubiak did not go with an onside kick, considering the defense is going to be dead tired the rest of the game because they've been on the field so much. Expect the Titans to run the ball pretty much the rest of the day.
--------------------------------------
(2:20pm) With back-to-back first downs (pass to Andre Davis, run from Ahman Green), the crowd deservedly gives the Texans a sarcastic cheer.
--------------------------------------
(2:16pm) I'm not going to lie to you, most of our time up in the press box this afternoon has been spent scouring the record books for inept offensive play. With 3:01 to play in the 3rd quarter the Texans have 34 total yards and 2 first downs. (1 from penalty)
--------------------------------------
(2:00) Another turnover for Rosenfels on the 2nd pick for Nick Harper. Schaub is also nursing a hip injury, in addition to the left ankle issue. For some reason, Jeff Fisher is going super conservativ, kicking 6 field goals - 4 from 30 yards or less.
--------------------------------------
(1:29pm) If the Texans want Matt Schaub to take any more snaps during his 6 year contract, they might want to fix their offensive line. A helmet-to-helmet hit from Albert Haynesworth results in a 15-yard penalty , thus the Texans best play of the half.
Which of course was followed by a mishandled snap by Rosenfels. Recovered by the Titans at the Houston 32, touchdown saving tackle by Eric Winston. This is disgraceful.
--------------------------------------
(1:15pm) Update on the plays and yardage totals - Texans now at 19 plays - 24 yards. Maybe this is why Aggie fans have been clamoring for Kubiak or Sherman as their new head coach.
--------------------------------------
(1:08pm) Petey Faggins gets burned again. This time on pass interference in the end zone. He was face guarding Justin Gage and the Titans punched it in on the next play. It is inexplicable how the Texans continue to play him. Teams always go after him. That play was Kerry Collins throwing to Justin Gage!! Faggins has made virtually no plays this season and has been routinely beaten in every game this season. The Fred Bennett era must begin immediately, even if he's not ready - although I think he is.
--------------------------------------
(1:00pm) Schaub is back and does not look to be hampered too much by his left ankle. Problem is the offense still looks inept. The line is getting worked over. The Texans have run 16 plays and have 25 yards. That is embarassing.
--------------------------------------
(12:49pm) Schaub has returned to the sideline and is likely to return. On the field, Chester Pitts missed yet another block on a what looked to be an otherwise well executed screen play
--------------------------------------
(12:43pm) REPORT ON MATT SCHAUB - injured left ankle, return is questionable
--------------------------------------
(12:35pm) Matt Schaub is getting hit a lot again this week and fumbled for the 4th straight week on a sack. He recovered his fumble, but had to limp off the field.Sage Rosenfels came in and promptly threw his first pick of the season. Schaub now being taken to the lockerroom. Just guessing, but they appear to be looking at the pre-existing thigh bruise and possibly a back problem. Rosenfels will get the snaps and as you know the Texans do not have another QB, Owen Daniels is the emergency QB.
--------------------------------------
(12:23pm) I told you the defense was playing angry. Ryans came roaring through on a blitz and crushed a helpless Kerry Collins, forced a fumble, picked it up himself and ran it in for the TD. We talked all week about how this really hasn't been a Richard Smith type defense this year, with so few blitzes and so few successful ones. That changed quickly here. Two turnovers forced so far and essentially a ten point swing because of them.
--------------------------------------
(12:17pm) Texans already had stopped the Titans on a 3rd down pass play to Bo Scaife. But Petey Faggins helped force a fumble and DeMeco Ryans came up with it - that is something new to the Texans, coming up huge defensively. Also the guys actually look like they're playing angry.
Too bad the O-Line can't protect Schaub at all and they go three and out.
--------------------------------------
(12:13pm) Texans trying to test Jacoby Jones early and it may have backfired. They put Dexter Wynn on the inactive list and make Jones the only return man. He grabs the opening kick and is Matt Schaub's target on each of the 1st two plays. Both short gains, but he fumbled on the second one and cam off the field grabbing his sore, recently-separated shoulder. Play reviewed and not overturned. Poor way to start already down 3-0
