- Ultimately it's a 13-4 for the Hornets to finish off their 15th road win in 20 games.
- 11-4 run for the Hornets to take 85-82 lead with 15 seconds left.
- Back to back turnovers on Yao with Chandler slapping the ball away after Yao had great position deep in the paint. Both turned into FB buckets for the Hornets, the 2nd one a 3-pt play for Rasual Butler and just like that the Hornets now have a 3 pt lead with 1:35 remaining. I do find it ironic that Yao had not had the ball slapped away even once the entire game without a foul being called until those two plays. (81-78 NO)
- Just checking some numbers, New Orleans is just 7-7 against West playoff contenders.
- Rafer still too in love with the jumper this afternoon. Too many early shots from him, without attacking the rim.
- I'm surprised Adelman took Brooks out of the game with about 5 minutes remaining. They are going to need some points to close this one out and that worries me a little that they are going to end of going strictly half court and likely standing around offensively as well.
- Brooks does not lack confidence and it shows in his teammates. Not afraid to take it to the basket and he knows who to give the ball to and where they like it. 73-70 HOU
-------END of 3rd 63-58 HOU-------------
- Rockets close period on a 15-2 run to take a 63-58 lead into the 4th quarter. They are 19-2 when leading heading into the 4th Q.- Only took 2 quarters but the Rockets took their first since the opening minutes, 57-56 with 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd Q. Then Yao follows with a 3-pt play and the Rockets are up 60-58. Should also mention that Ryan Bown for some reason has taken 2 of the last 3 Hornets shots. Advantage Rockets. 62-58 HOU
- Although few give the Hornets the credit they deserve, they probably have the 2nd best PG in the West (Nash), the 2nd best center (Yao) and David West is as pretty darn good at everything. The Rockets have done an outstanding job of staying close, but the Hornets are not letting any Rockets charge last long enough for them to give up the lead. (52-45 NO)
-----------Half 46-38 NO----------
- Rockets were down 8 when the period began, opened with a 10-2 to tie at 28, but at the half they are nearly right back where they started, down 46-39. Rockets are 2-11 when trailing at the half.- Big momentum swinger-Brooks commits a turnover, but then steals it back from Paul, leads the break, dishes to Rafer, but he misses the LU and West comes down on the other end and hits a LU over Yao - (45-39 NO)
- Rafer has been taking more jumpers again today, he's just 2-7, but he is shooting with a lot of confidence, (43-39 NO)
- Texans DT Travis Johnson in the house today, along with former linemate Robaire Smith. Attorney Rusty Hardin is not occupying his customary courtside seat - he's busy with something.
- 2nd unit playied first 6 minutes of 2Q, outscored NO 16-11, 37-34 NO
- Brooks not shy about shooting, starts 3-3 including two 3's, 35-34 NO
All rookie lineup - Landry, Scola and Brooks all in game together. Landry gets easy LU
---------END of 1st 26-18 NO ------
I'll start by getting you caught up on my 1st quarter notes - this are the notes I keep for myself for the postgame show - lots of shorthand so follow along.- Hornets 1st play alley-oop to TC
- Yao turnaround J on TC single-covered
- Hornets 2nd play, another alley try - no good. shane outlet to luther, Fast break Lay Up
- Yao again on TC, J in lane
- Luther give n go w/ Chuck for b-door dunk
- Luther 3-4 doing a real good job of attacking the rim - all buckets are LU
- Aaron brooks in for 2 seconds before he goes straight to the basket for a layup
