SportsRadio 610 Modia Bus Trip (Video), Oswalt impresses, Elite XC tomorrow

The 2nd annual SportsRadio 610 bus trip to Arlington to go see the Astros was a blast yet again. A busload of SR610's finest hopped aboard and here's the video below and slideshow you'll find at SportsRadio610.com to prove it.

We may or may not have left some people behind. We may or may not have had some people that were overserved. We may or may not have some incriminating photos of some trip-goers.
But we definitely had an awesome time.

Big thanks to my man Bobby Woolley and presenting sponsor Modia, our beverage provider - Shiner, cuisine provided by James Coney Island and contributing sponsors Hoops and Grills by Paul Wall (prominently displayed by yours truly and Matt Jackson) and of course the killer photogs from Tri-Coast photography.

We'll see you on the Bus next year...or sooner...stay tuned.

Astros are nothing if not consistent, for the third time this year, they beat the Cards in the opening game of a three game series only to lose each of the next 2. Even though Oswalt gave up at 3 runs in 7 innings, it was arguably the best he looked all season. His first inning was perplexing as he issued back-to-back 4-pitch walks to load the bases. But then he had Chris Duncan on an 0-2 hole before going to a full count and then allowing a 2-run single which had the 'Stros playing catch-up the rest of the night.

He gave the team 6 strong innings after that - again maybe his best 6 innings of the season so it's not all bad despite the loss.

UPDATE...last night during the show while Danny & I were on location at Reliant Stadium for Texans All Access, we were wondering why Cecil Cooper let Oswalt hit for himself in the top of the 7th with Hunter Pence on 2nd and 2 outs and the Astros trailing 3-1. It was understandable b/c Oswalt was in a groove and his pitch count was low. He gave the Astros a solid 7th with no trouble.

But since we had an embarrassingly bad internet connection and no TV - neither of us were paying super close attention to the game and the little things. But after going back thru the box score and watching the game - I am dumbfounded as to why Coop allowed Brad Ausmus to hit in front of Oswalt. Ausmus was hitting .191 at the time. He fouled out. To first. about 85 feet from home plate. Thrilling.

Ausmus is still looking for his first hit of the season with runners on and two outs this season. He is just plain and simple and awful, awful offensive player. The Astros had only 8 outs left to play with and the had a runner on 2nd with 1 out, down 2. It is the wrong move to allow Ausmus to hit. As pinch-hitters, Geoff Blum is 4-8, Loretta is 2-5. Just the day before Coop had lamented about wanted to get more at-bats for some of his bench players. We'll there went a huge opportunity right there.

The huge CBS Elite XC Prime Time Saturday nights debut tomorrow with the excitable Gus Johnson behind the mic. Kimbo Slice v. James Thompson is the main event and will probably draw a lot of attention from media outlets that don't normally cover and report on MMA events. In light of that fact, friend of the program, Michael David Smith over at the Fanhouse, posted A Guide to MMA for MSM.

Tonight at 6:40, Jared Barnes who writes the Brawl Sports blog at Chron.com joins us to look at the Elite XC card and the big Jens Pulver bout coming up on Sunday.

Did I mention this young lady is one of the fighters scheduled to tango on the Elite XC Primetime Saturday Nights on CBS tomorrow night --------------->>>>>>>>>>>
