HALFTIME NOTES
- Moats outrushed Slaton. Moats 8 carries for 24 yards, Slaton just 5 for 19.
- Johnson went over 100 yards in the first half (7-101, 2 TD). Houston has won the last 5 games Johnson topped the 100-yard mark. It's his 8th 100 yard game this season.
- Johnson also has 1052 yards at home in 7 plus games. His 134.4 yards per game at home leads the NFL.
---------------------------------
HOUSTON 14-10, HALFTIME
Texans third down defense has turned things around. After the Bears converted their first 3rd down of the game on their touchdown drive, the have been stopped on their next four 3rd downs, resulting in a field goal and three consecutive punts.
---------------------------------
HOUSTON 14-10, 1:54 2nd Q
Red zone offense...success. Unlike last week they use their best player. On both 2nd and 3rd down Schaub gets the ball to Johnson. On 2nd down he gets a wideout screen just behind the line of scrimmage and he carries it down to the three.
On 3rd down, they make it simple and throw the fade. Johnson on Tillman and with good coverage, Johnson is able to make the catch - Touchdown. Now those are play calls you can live with.
---------------------------------
CHICAGO 10-7, 6:00 2nd Q
Nice job offense, despite the drive being a "Ryan Moats" drive, Schaub does guide the team down the field and into the endzone. The go 88 yards on just 7 plays, the touchdown goes to a wide open Andre Johnson although he was so wide open, Schaub's underthrow didnt cost them the score.
Houston gets the ball right back when Moats forces the fumble from Danieal Manning on the kickoff and Kris Brown recovers it
---------------------------------
CHICAGO 10-0, 9:57 2nd Q
Another strong third down stand from the Texans as Mario Williams beats John Tait and slams Orton to the turf for his 12th sack of the season. The offense would do well to wake up and do something on this opportunity.
---------------------------------
CHICAGO 10-0, 12:23 2nd Q
Maybe the Texans have finally arrived at Reliant Stadium. Amobi Okoye and Jeff Zgonina crush Matt Forte on a 3rd and 1 play for a loss and the Texans force the first punt of the game.
---------------------------------
CHICAGO 10-0, END 1
Texans offense in the first quarter, 3 possessions = 2 punts and a fumble. One good long throw down the middle to Andre Davis was about the only thing to write home about for Houston.
Orton also had a QB rating of 139.6 in the first quarter - yikes!!
---------------------------------
CHICAGO 10-0, 3:30 1st Q
First play after the Bears TD, Schaub finds Slaton in the flat, and Slaton tries to leap past Charles Tillman and he fumbles and it's Bears ball in Texans territory. This is going well. The Texans do hold on third down and Robbie Goul kicks a 37-yarder.
--- Note:Houston has won their last 10 games when they win the turnover battle. They're -1 today.
---------------------------------
CHICAGO 7-0, 5:46 1st Q
Any doubts about defensive coordinator Richard Smith's future? Sure it's only one series, but the Bears have one of the worst offenses in the NFL and they just went straight down the field 80 yards in 10 plays and Kyle Orton went 5-5. (Btw - Orton is the league's 24th rated passer!!) The only time Orton was touched was on Tim Bulman's roughing the passer penalty.
