If we are to believe the closest confidant of Tracy McGrady, Stephen A. Smith, then McGrady is done for the season and will opt for microfracture surgery. Smith said this would be done so McGrady could take his rightful place among the NBA's elite - especially in the offseason following 2009-2010 season. When the big free agent class led by Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Amare Stoudemire hits the market, for some reason McGrady thinks he belongs in that same breath - whatever.
Not having the McGrady that played here in Houston prior to this year would be sorely missed. The McGrady that has been on the court 35 times this year is not a truly helpful player. It may be due to the troublesome knee, but at this point for this year's team, it doesn't really matter. He needed at least a month off anyway if there were any hopes that he might even approach the player that played so well in the postseason just one year ago.
Anyway, Houston crushed New Jersey and moved to 13-6 (.684) without McGrady this year and 20-15 (.571) with him. The main reason they won in blowout fashion was simply that they made shots, 15 3's at a better than 50% clip will do that. Battier had a season high 19 points and finally looked like a legitimate three point threat. The Nets were held to 40% shooting and the Rockets were absolute demons on the glass holding a 56-30 advantage which led to a 20-2 advantage on second chance points.
Now let's see if they can beat the Mavs for the first time in their last 5 meetings in Houston. Portland and Cleveland will be here next week. The visit from King James might generate all the excitement but the game on the 24th against Portland will be the biggest game of the season, since the teams will play just three times this year and the Blazers will own the tie-breaker if they win.

SportsRadio 610 hosted a Valentine's Fashion show last Friday night - naturally I was on the air taking care of the NightShift. Brittney and Amanda were nice enough to bring their butts in studio, along with Christy & Tracey from Hooters. So that was nice. Check out the videos of all the lovelies doing their best to give our listeners something to think about. These are my two faves - there are plenty of others at SportsRadio610.com
