Texans-Colts Review; Can't Miss Videos

What a disappointing primetime game last night for the Texans. We spent most of the show this morning wondering aloud with the fans, why did Kubiak/Dennison/Schaub elect to throw and throw and throw? Please don’t have any excuses saying they had to throw the ball because they were trailing the entire game. That is a load of you know what.

Here are the Texans first 9 plays – all while the game was scoreless – 4 straight pass plays that gained 5 yards followed by a punt. Then the next drive opened w/ 3 Foster runs for 5, 9 & 4 yards. Then two more incomplete passes and a punt.
That’s 6 passes for 5 yards and 3 runs for 18. Six yards a pop when you give it Foster vs. 8 tenths of a yard when Schaub drops back to throw. They spent 15 days figuring out how to move the ball against the Colts, but decided the 3 hours of game film from week 1 was not worth reviewing. That is what should have you questioning the coach.

By no means was Kubiak alone in blame for the poor showing, the defense wasn’t terrible, which is actually a step forward for that group. But they benefitted from the Colts missing several key players and still couldn’t force the Colts into any key mistakes. For the 5th time this year, they did not have an interception and for the fifth time they did not claim a fumble. No team in the league has forced fewer turnovers than the Texans who forced only 6.

The wide receivers, other than Andre Johnson did not do much. Kevin Walter had 5 balls thrown his way – caught none. Jacoby Jones got 5 targets also, caught two of them…for 6 yards. The tight ends were virtually invisible, both pass blocking and catching balls. Schaub had 13 underthrows in the first 6 games, he had 7 in this game alone.

Both tackles, Eric Winston & Duane Brown were outplayed by the Colts end all night long. Brown got worked over by Freeney. The Texans really needed to run the ball more to slow the pass rush down or at least keep a TE in to block.

They beat the Colts in September because they dominated up front on both offense and defense. Their front 4 on defense did not play well and the o-line was asked to pass block far too often.

All that being said, is it really asking that much for the Texans to come home and beat the 3-5 Chargers. If they do that, the team could be right back in first place. Would you believe the Chargers are favored? You should. They are. Chargers open as a 1.5 point favorite.

Randy Moss will have a new team shortly and more new sound bites to enjoy. Here's a great Moss mash-up set to music.

I bet ESPN's Chris McKendry would like to have this broadcast back. Listen closely to her slip-up talking about Big Ben. Was that a "Big Ben" reference that accidentally slipped out??!!??
