MLB Postseason Predictions

First off the NL is pathetic. Game 2 starters for the Cards-Padres series matches Jeff Weaver against David Wells. Two guys who couldn't cut it in the AL this year!! Weaver is 8-14, 5.76ERA on the season, Wells won 3 games - ALL YEAR!!
Some guy named Kuo gets the ball in game 2 for LA, he won 1 game this year. (As in 1 less than Chris Sampson).

American League

Minnesota 3-1 over Oakland - no shot the A's top Johan Santana in game 1, also very little chance they win any games at the Metrodome, but I'll say the series won't even get back there. Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer are league MVP candidates, but Torii Hunter might still be their team MVP. If Frank Thomas can't continue to launch moon shots then the series might end even sooner.
Yankees 3-2 over Tigers - Neither team possesses even 1 starter who seems unbeatable. The names Johnson and Mussina sound nice but both have had problems late this year and are far from sure bets. Wang tied Santana with 19 regular season wins, but the postseason is a different story. He was merely OK in last year's playoffs. Who do you want to count in for Detroit. Nate Robertson, a .500 pitcher? Justin Verlander, a rookie? Kenny Rogers, a noted postseason bust? They have enough offense to make this a series, but the Yankees have more - and they have Mariano Rivera, who is just slightly better than Todd Jones. (remove tongue from cheek)

National League
Padres 3-2 over Cardinals - Hard to pick a series where neither team really seems all that good. The Cardinals can win this series if Chris Carpenter pitches like the reigning Cy Young award winner. He must win twice, meaing today's opener is the whole series for the Cards, especially since this is the series that gets days off after game 1 and 2. Pujols is the best player in the entire playoffs and he could push the Cardinals through in a 5 game series, but he has to make his early at-bats count - he'll likely be pitched around in the late innings of games are close. But overall, I think the Padres throw a competent starter every game of this series, have many more capable hitters in their lineup and their bullpen is outstanding whereas the Cardinals' bully is in shambles.
Dodgers 3-2 over Mets - If the Mets had any pitching then this series would be a slam dunk for them; a 3-game sweep possibly. But no Pedro, El Duque is not 100%, and Glavine is well past his prime. Their offense is so potent they might be able to overcome it. But think back to when Beltran was with the Astros in 2004, the offense was phenomenal and no doubt had the advantage over the Cardinals, but they couldn't advance. The Dodgers aren't great offensively but they're very streaky and are in the midst of a real hot stretch winning 7 straight to close out the season. I think the pitching depth of the Dodgers will be the key that slides them into the next round.
Here are some other predictions....
ESPN, CBS Sportsline, Ken Rosenthal, USA Today

oh and by the way the next round picks would go something like this...
Yankees over Twins in 7
Dodgers over Padres in 6
...and then as I've been saying all year the Yankees will end their outrageously long 6 year title drought by crushing the Dodgers in 5 (or less.)

Now let's play some baseball and see how dumb I am!!!
