NightShift Top 50 NFL Draft Prospects

We're counting 'em down each night, one-by-one on the NightShift and we'll do it every night until the NFL Draft on April 28th. We gave you 50-46 last week and you can listen to our analysis below.
50. Victor Abiamiri, DE, Notre Dame
49. Buster Davis, LB, Florida State
48. Tim Crowder, DE, Texas
47. David Harris, LB, Michigan
46. Tony Hunt, RB, Penn State
We'll pick up the countdown again on Monday night with prospect #45.

- The 'Stros first pretend game isn't until March 1, so they'll get the jump on faking it on Tuesday when they playt for pride in an intrasquad game in Kissimmee, FL. Here is how the skipper has divided 'em up to battle one another.
We call this Team Houston and Brad Lidge will start, followed by RHP Fernando Nieve, RHP Paul Estrada, RHP Felipe Paulino, and RHP Ezequiel Astacio.
The lineup will be (including commentary on 2007 outlook):
SS Adam Everett...starting everyday SS-and that's a good thing
1B Mike Lamb...MVP of '05-'07 Astros (off the bench!)
CF Hunter Pence...bit player in '07, Sept. callup ,starting OF in '08
3B Morgan Ensberg...much better than '06, but still too hot & cold
RF Richard Hidalgo...longshot to make club, likely auditioning for other MLB job
2B Brooks Conrad...no room for him, outstanding season at AAA in '06)
LF Charlton Jimerson...bye-bye. His spot on 40-man is not even safe
C Humberto Quintero...has leg up on Gimenez to make team as backup C
DH Kevin Davidson...who? 5th season in organization, hit .203 at AA in '06

We'll call their foes Team Astro and Wandy Rodriguez gets the start, followed by RHP Matt Albers, RHP Dave Borkowski, RHP Chris Sampson, and LHP Mark McLemore
Their lineup will be
CF Chris Burke...I'll give it 6 weeks before he's the full-time leadoff hitter, supplanting Biggio
SS Mark Loretta...gives team strong protection from injury, should be part of NL's best bench
RF Luke Scott...I plan on seeing him start at least 130 games in RF this year
1B Jason Lane...last chance to impress for Lane, out of options.
3B Eric Munson...great pop off bench, but no spot for him other than catcher
LF Josh Anderson...imagine Willy Taveras, just with a different name, and a year away
2B Cody Ransom...filler part on minor league squad for second yr in a row
C Lou Santangelo...3rd member of '04 draft class in camp this year, targeted for Corpus Christi
DH Mike Rodriguez...filler player, accept AAA or see ya

Let's see. Two complete line-ups and yet the only pseudo Killer B to be found is Chris Burke? That is weird. No Biggio, no Bagwell and no Berkman. No Derek Bell either.
SportsRadio 610's John Granato will be there to capture all the riveting action. The team also announced that the first 5 starts in the spring go to, in order, Woody Williams, Roy Oswalt, Jason Jennings, Wandy Rodriguez and Fernando Nieve.
- Before you freak out about the squeaker in Orlando, just be happy the Rockets escaped with the win. At least they came out more inspired, scoring the game's first 8 points. They did just enough to keep the Magic at arm's length, never lost the lead. They have another potential snoozer with the Celts in town Monday night. Expect a quick stomach punch to the league's worst team and a little breathing room in the fourth quarter.
