Astros Farm Report - 4/7/07

RR (AAA)-This is getting pretty old already, but another game was postponed by weather, DH with Iowa set for Sunday
CC (AA)-W 5-1, L 5-1. The Rayz finally got their season underway with a DH after back-to-back postponements. Troy Patton won the opener, allowing just one run in 6 very sharp innings, that included no walks and just 4 hits. Tim Raines, Jr. is the team's CF, he stole a base and scored a run. C Lou Santangelo picked up a RBI and scored a pair of runs.
Josh Miller took the loss in game even though he allowed just 2 ER, a fielding error by 1B Todd Self in the 5th contributed to a 4-run inning. Yep, that's the same Self who had a cup of coffee with the 'Stros in '05. He's back in the organization after the Mets failed to re-sign after a year spent in their minors. He also homered for the Rayz in the 1st for their only run. Former #1 draft pick Robert Stiehl tossed a scoreless ining in relief.
Box-Gm1, Box-Gm2,
Salem(A-Adv)-PPD cold weather
Lexington(A)-W, 4-3. They were supposed to play 2, but only got one in, so a DH set for Sunday. Kind of a weird game with the teams socring 7 runs on just 5 hits. Legends starter Bud Norris allowed just one hit - a homer - in four innings and the Legends parlayed 8 walks and 4 errors into 4 runs - the game winner scored on a wild throw. Koby Clemens either developed a fantastic eye for the strike zone or teams area fraid of him..or it's just early but he's drawn 6 walks in ten plate appearances. He's still looking for his first hit of the year. 2006 #1 pick Max Sapp was behind the plate for his 1st game of the season and picked up an RBI on a sac fly.
