Roger Clemens made 47 throws during a 7-minute session in the outfield on Monday during his 1st workout at the Yankees' minor league complex. Clemens is scheduled for a bullpen session Tuesday. Barring any problems, he will make his 1st minor league start Friday night for Class-A Tampa & could be pitching for the Yankees at the end of May or early June. The 7-time Cy Young Award winner spent 4 1/2 hours at the complex. He was on the field for 65 minutes doing running, agility work and fielding drills. Roger Clemens likely will make his first minor league start for the New York Yankees on Friday at Class-A Tampa. Clemens would be in line to pitch next at Double-A Trenton, against Portland on May 23, then could pitch at Triple-A Scranton against Toledo on May 28. That would put him on track to make his return to the Yankees on June 2 Saturday afternoon at Boston's Fenway Park.

Terrell Owens speaks at Cowboys mini-camp. "Obviously, we talked about how possibly he could use me throughout the course of the season and about the way I’d been used throughout the course of my career," T.O said. "I think we kind of got away from that last year. They’re going to move me around a little bit. I may play some tight end. You never know." T.O. had a simple response when asked what he'd take from his time with Bill Parcells: "Nothing, really." T.O. brushed off the Tuna's recent comments that bringing "the player" on board wasn't his idea. "It's funny, people can say a lot of things when they're gone, but I think he probably had a chance to answer that question when he was here," T.O. said. "At this point, it's really not important. It's irrelevant to me."

A decision on Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones' appeal for leniency from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be delayed while lawyers complete paperwork. The commissioner then will review the briefs summing up the legal points and testimony from the appeal hearing before deciding whether to ease Jones' season-long NFL suspension. The decision would come no sooner than May 21, two people close to the case told The Associated Press. The two familiar with the new paperwork spoke on condition of anonymity because Goodell has asked those involved not to speak about the pending appeal. Jones and his attorneys spent nearly four hours Friday arguing that the first defensive player taken in the 2005 draft deserved a lighter punishment than missing the 2007 season. They cited at least 280 other NFL players arrested or charged since January 2000 without being suspended for 16 games, and attorneys representing the NFLPA also argued for Jones at the hearing. Paperwork filed with the NFL on May 1 in Jones' appeal reserved his right to sue the league if unhappy with the final decision from the same man who punished him last month. If Jones chooses to sue the league, he would be on his own with no support from the players' union.

This from Jay Bilas after Lucas committed to Florida. - Jai Lucas is a small guard that will take some time to be a difference maker on the college level and may never be a pro. Lucas is similar to Drew Lavendar, formerly of Oklahoma and now with Xavier, and will likely not be an impact player early in his college career. Lucas, the son of John Lucas, has long thought to be joined at the hip with Patterson, so much so that some coaches have given thought to offering a scholarship to Lucas in order to have a better chance to get Patterson. The truth is, Patterson is the remaining gem in this recruiting class. Lucas is a good player, but not in the same class as Patterson. Neither is worth this kind of attention over a simple decision.

For the second time in his career, Bryan Colangelo, President and GM/Toronto was named The Sporting News’ NBA Exec of the Year. Colangelo also received the honor in 2004-05 when he guided the Phoenix Suns to the third-greatest turnaround in NBA history. After 15 years with the Suns, Colangelo, 41, joined the Raptors on Feb. 28, 2006 and won a franchise record-tying 47 wins – a 20-win improvement over the '05-06 season. His fellow executives gave him 20 of the 45 votes. The Bulls still have a long way to go to join the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, 1975 New York Islanders and 2004 Boston Red Sox as the only major pro teams to win a best-of-seven series after falling behind 3-0.

An NBA spokesman confirmed Sunday night that Bruce Bowen's third-quarter knee to the groin of Suns guard Steve Nash in Saturday's Game 3 is under review for possible punishment. But the league decided anyway to conduct a full investigation into this incident after declining to do so when Bowen was accused of intentionally kicking Amare Stoudemire in Game 2. Stoudemire called Bowen and Manu Ginobili "dirty" players after the Game 2 tangle, in which Bowen admitted he "did clip" Stoudemire from behind on a dunk.

Todd McCorkle's sudden decision to resign as the women's golf coach at Georgia last week followed complaints from players about his inappropriate sexual comments and jokes, according to documents obtained Monday by The Associated Press. McCorkle's resignation was announced May 7 and came three days after a memo in which he was told he would have to go through extensive anti-harassment training and would be suspended without pay for July. McCorkle instead quit, but athletic director Damon Evans said he would remain employed in another undisclosed job with the athletic department. McCorkle was said to have shared a sexually explicit Paris Hilton video from the Internet with the team. Players reported McCorkle shared remarks about bras and underwear color. Other comments were more explicit, referring to male anatomy. There was a mention by one player of inappropriate physical contact. "He is randomly rubbing your back or flipping hair, or pat on butt -- and otherwise not think anything about it -- but with all the other stuff feels wrong," the unidentified player wrote.

Walter Thomas was allegedly sent home from the Saints' first rookie minicamp twelve minutes after it started. I say allegedly because one person is refuting the news ... Walter Thomas. WWL in New Orleans is reporting that Thomas, who last officially weighed 370 lbs, could not make it through conditioning drills. A prominent member of the Saints' media, who posts on Saints Report, confirmed, saying Thomas, "didn't even make it through individual drills and had to be helped off the field . He was sent home and has been released by the Saints."
