This homestand could be looked back upon as the one where the Astros finally decided to make a go of it. It's odd though, don't you think?? This is the homestand on which the Astros re-installed Brad Lidge as the closer and in his first chance in the 9th since opening day he blows the save by giving up a homer to the first batter he sees. This is the homestand where Adam Everett - their only plus defensive player - has his leg snapped in two by their lumbering 100 million dollar outfielder. Oh, yeah it also included Dan Wheeler shoving Chris Sampson in the 'Stros dugout during a game gone wrong.
However, this homestand also included the first 3-game sweep of the season when the Astros got out the brooms against the Mariners. The offense was effective and they even played a little defense. But this 9-game homestand had better fo well or else this 3-game sweep means precious little.
From the show tonight....
- Peter King's ranking of the 32 starting NFL Quarterbacks.
- Along those lines, the great dudes at Heisman Pundit, have the balls to suggest that there is a next Vince Young. Usually I'd say that's laughable to annoint anyone as the next VY. Especially a high schooler, but at 6'5" and 230, who knows what this kid will turn out to be like
