The 'Stros just took 2 of 3 from the Cubs, and each of the two wins came thanks to the home run bats in the heart of the order. Tejada, Berkman, Lee and Pence are among the most productive foursomes in baseball. With apologies to their actual batting order, B(erkman)L(ee)T(ejada) w/ P(ence) sounds pretty good to me. Here are their projections as they begin the series with the Phillies.
Berkman....55 HR, 155 RBI, .382 Avg, 171 R, 55 2B, 31 SB, 1.226 OPS
Tejada........17 HR, 118 RBI, .340 Avg, 132 R, 51 2B, 219 H
Lee..............34 HR, 120 RBI, .279 Avg, 79 R, 45 2B
Pence..........18 HR, 95 RBI, .288 Avg, 85 R, 39 2B, 18 SB
Not bad.

Question: 55 pitchers in the Majors have made 10 starts or more (2 pitchers have started 11 games). Only one is still undefeated. Who is he?
Answer: Shawn Chacon (1-0)
Some nuggets from the Astros game notes:
- Astros are the only team in the NL with a winning record against the Phillies since 2004 (18-9)
- Jose Valverde is currently enjoying the 2nd longest scoreless innings streak in the majors with 17.2 IP (Cole Hamels has a streak on 19 currently - he starts Sunday against Chris Sampson)
- Scoring 4 runs is the magic total. Astros are 25-6 when they score 4 or more, just 2-15 when they score 3 or fewer.

Do you believe this??
The list of the top 12 pitchers most difficult to hit this season (5 IP minimum) includes 4 ex-Astros!!! Brad Lidge (.130), Taylor Buchholz (.141), Kirk Saarloos (.143), and Dan Wheeler (.153)

We may not all be hockey fans, but this is an awesome spot for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Note the fly-in text at the end - very "Where copying NBA ad-campaigns happens"

I was on the Adam Clanton Experience this morning and we were discussing flopping. Over on Clutchfans - the best hoops board anywhere - there was a thread that was a compilation of flopping via youtube. Here are my two faves, plus the homage to Vlade Divac the ultimate flopper. Here's the link to all of them.

Did you miss Albert Pujols' personal wrecking ball that he took to the SD Padres last night?
You'll have to go thru MLB's official video player to view it. Pujols takes out the entire battery, both Chris Young and Josh Bard. The vids can be found under the headline of the mlb.com story.
