Texans ready, No Foxy, Power 16; On the Show

Texans have two more practices before they'll have to be ready for Pittsburgh. They beat a poor Kansas City team in the opener last year en route to the only 2-0 start in team history. A win in Pittsburgh ought to pave the way for a repeat beginning with the Ravens providing the opposition for the home opener the following week. With the addition of Stanley McClover (or McLovin as he will recognized in the future on this blog), the 53-man group to open the season is set. (Update: T Brandon Frye was released Tuesday afternoon, leaving the Texans roster at 52.)

But I have to question why the Texans would not have been willing to part with what the Falcons gave up for former Broncos CB Domonique Foxworth. A 7th, possibly a 6th round pick for a 25-yr old, 4th year cornerback. He'd been a nickel back for the most part, but keep in mind the Broncos already have Dre' Bly and Champ Bailey as the starter, so there's no shame in being the 3rd corner in that secondary.

While the Falcons draft spot might be appreciably better than the Texans in '09 - why wouldn't the Texans have been able to get a similar deal done with Denver? For hypotheticals sake...
Alex Brink for Foxworth - uhhh yes please!!!
Dominique Barber for Foxworth - where do I sign!?!?!?
There is no way the Texans coaches can like their corners, heading into the season. The only people who like the Texans corners are the 13 offensive coordinators and those teams receivers that get to game plan against them this year.

It's finally time. After a pair of Monday games wrapped up the opening weekend of college football season, it's time to release the NightShift Power 16. It will discussed on the NightShift and promptly posted at 6:40 tonight. Yes, I continue to include one necessary photos of rapid college football fans. Normally scantilly clad ladies, so be here.

In case you missed the Rutgers/Fresno State game yesterday, not to worry, so did Erin Andrews. She was originally scheduled for sideline reporting duties, but was replaced by Rob Stone. He responded comically.

Props to Rice's Andrew Sendejo who picks up C-USA defensive player of the week honors after grabbing an interception and a fumble in Rice's convincing season-opening win over SMU, 56-27.
