Maybe it's b/c the Texans have the #1 pick and the Longhorns won the National Title but there has been virtually no talk, buzz, anticipation, whatever about National Signing Day. Does Houston just not produce buzz-worthy players this year?? Possibly. But the state is just as ripe as ever with 16 players littering the roster for US Army All-American game this year. Is it because Mack can no longer be called Mr. February?? Btw-it looks like the Horns will have the 3rd ranked class-pending the choice of S Jonas Mouton from Cali. Florida will be tops, now let's see what Urban Meyer can do with it. Interesting that 5 of the top 11 tanked classes in the country are SEC schools.
With that said, schools shouldn't really be concerned where they are ranked since it's not based needs and holes that are filled. Way too much emphasis placed on 1 or 2 individuals that boost a ranking far too much. Schools like Rice & UH should pay even less attention to the rankings. It'll be interesting to see how class number one goes for Todd Graham over at Rice. Getting Pierre Beasley could prove to be huge, grabbing two of the state champ SL Carroll receivers is what stands out to me. Over at UH, the coaching changes should boost the recruiting situation although winning will do that much more than anything. Despite a bowl game for the second time in Briles' 3 year, they were still just a .500 team that was woefully inconsistent. Some of these young defensive players will have a chance for an immediate impact.
