No Luck of the Irish

10-10 teams don't normally catch my attention and I'm sure the 10-10 Notre Dame hoopsters don't catch yours either, but...let's dig deeper into their 10 wins and their 10 losses.
WINS - Lafayette, Hofstra, Alabama, Fla. Int'l, IPFW, Niagara, Columbia, Fordham, Wofford, Providence.
Combined record 93-106 and none will likely be in the NCAA tourney. (Hofstra is 16-4, 3rd in the CAA, that's the best of this putrid bunch.)
LOSSES - #15 NC St., #22 Michigan, #13 Pitt, Depaul, Syracuse, Marquette, #16 Georgetown, #4 Villanova, #10 W. Virginia, Louisville.
Combined record is 157-52 and all will likely be in the NCAA tourney except Depaul.
Now that's interesting enough, but still what prompted this entry. Know this. ND entered Big East play 9-2 only to experience the following.....
100-97 (2 OT) loss to then undefeated Pitt
88-82 loss to the 'Cuse a week later
67-65 loss to Marquette on Steve Novak's fall-away 19 foot jumper w/ 1.1 seconds left
85-82 (2 OT) loss to Georgetown despite forcing OT with a 4 pt play
72-70 loss to 'Nova on a tip-in from 6'1" Kyle Lowry with 1.7 seconds left
71-70 loss to West Virginia with Chris Quinn's game winning jumper at the buzzer didn't drop
89-86 (OT) loss to Louisville after the Cards hit a 3 in waning seconds of regulation to force OT

Those are 7 of their 8 conference losses, the other was a 73-67 loss to Depaul. Just look at their last five. Outscored by a total of 11 points, including 3 OT sessions.
I can't wait for the Madness to begin...see you in Vegas!!
