Your Daily Dose:Thursday

- After tonight, pending the weather, the Astros can no longer call themselves NL Champs. So let's continue figuring out how the Astros can get back what was once theirs. One very credible Houston source who happens to appear weekly on SportsRadio 610 suggests Carlos Lee will be wearing Brick Red for the next couple of seasons.

- Great article by ESPN's Rob Neyer as he asserts that Oliver Perez could very well be the worst starter ever to be handed the ball in a game 7. Nothing mean or personal about it and because of it surely Perez will come through with a stellar performance. Well maybe not. It's an insider article, but here's the meat...
Perez is almost certainly the worst pitcher who's ever started a Game 7. There are 94 pitchers in the study. Perez won three games this season, which places him 94th on the list. His winning percentage this season was .188, which is 94th on the list. His career winning percentage is .411, which is 94th on the list. His career ERA is 4.67, which is 93rd on the list.
- Haven't heard much buzz for this guy, but the Astros should definitely look into having Gary Matthews patrol centerfield. Just maybe put his locker on the other side of the clubhouse from Mike Lamb. Remember this.

- What is the matter with Isiah Thomas. He needs to meet a mirror. And I mean with his eyes open. Since he hung up his short shorts, what exactly has he done to suggest he knows anything about anything?? For some reason Isiah takes issue with ESPN's Greg Anthony draft night assesment of the Renaldo Balkman selection. Isiah belileves in a scorched-earth policy of management, leaving the CBA, the Pacers and now the Knicks, who he now coaches, in his wake. Get back to us when you touch something....and it doesn't turn to sh*&.

More coming as always....
