The NightShift NBA 1on1 Challenge

We promised you a one on one tournament for the All Star Game. We deliver. This Friday we will take your votes on who is the best one on one player in the NBA. Sixteen will enter, but only one can win.....Here's the bracket.
The NightShift Ultimate NBA 1on1 Battle

The Seeds
#1 Dwayne Wade - Miami Heat
The League’s reigning Finals MVP shoots close to 50% from the field, and he isn’t receiving All-Star level assistance from Shaquille O’Neal anymore. The Mavericks could not defend him 5 on 1. I imagine a one on one matchup would be a nightmare for his opposition.

#2 Kobe Bryant - Los Angeles Lakers
This is the type of competition in which Kobe would thrive. He doesn’t have to involve his teammates, and you know he would want to go somewhere #23 did not. With unlimited range and an assortment of post-up moves, Kobe is a loaded weapon.

#3 Tracy McGrady - Houston Rockets
His game is approaching MVP status at the All Star Break. The elevation he gets on his jumper makes his shot nearly unblockable. T-Mac can even be a lockdown defender when he wants to be.

#4 Kevin Garnett - Minnesota Timberwolves
“The Big Ticket” is perhaps the most intense competitor in the game. A former league MVP, Garnett is a six time member of the NBA’s All-Defensive team. He is a good enough ball handler to hold his own in a one on one matchup.

#5 Lebron James - Cleveland Cavaliers
The NBA’s youngest superstar’s numbers are down across the board. Still, his combination of size and speed would be difficult to handle.

#6 Dirk Nowitzki - Dallas Mavericks
The “Diggler” is no great shakes defensively, but if he’s on, his pure stroke can send anyone home. Dirk has an uncanny availability to make the off balance shot.

#7 Gilbert Arenas - Washington Wizards
Agent Zero can get inside anyone’s head (and vice versa).

#8 Vince Carter - New Jersey Nets

Vince has a streaky jump shot, but he’s still explosive to the hole. Oh yeah and he likes to dunk on people...hard.

#9 Joe Johnson - Atlanta Hawks

Joe is a PG in a small forward’s body. His shooting numbers have surprisingly gone up without Steve Nash.

#10 Carmelo Anthony - Denver Nuggets
An elite shooter out to 18 feet, Carmelo can pull up off the dribble or post up smaller players. He is also an underrated finisher at the rim.

#11 Ron Artest - Sacramento Kings
The schizophrenic Artest is one of the best two way players in basketball. An inconsistent outside shooter and ball handler, Ron can out physical anyone on both sides of the ball.

#12 Ray Allen - Seattle Supersonics

Jesus Shuttlesworth can heat up in a hurry. He’s in range when he enters the black-top.

#13 Allen Iverson – Denver Nuggets
Still quick enough to blow by the best in the NBA, AI is one of the best at finishing with contact. He maybe to small to guard many of the players in this tournament, but you know his heart will keep him competitive.

#14 Michael Redd – Milwaukee Bucks
Redd is an absolute scoring machine. He doesn’t defend. He doesn’t handle the ball particularly well. All he does is score.

15 Steve Nash – Phoenix Suns
The league’s two time defending MVP is known for his team-play. In a one on one format, his defensive liability could be an Achilles heel. Still, any 50% shooter has a chance to get through the tourney.

#16 Stephon Marbury
Before you begin rolling over in laughter, remember that Marbury is a NY playground legend. This competition would be right up his alley.
