Can we stop with the Big Game Bob moniker? 5 straight BCS game losses is enough for me. I understand he's been in a title game 4 times in 9 years and I get that he's great. He's in the argument for greatest current college football coach. But you cannot possibly continue calling the guy Big Game Bob and I won't.
Florida won the 4th quarter and thus won the game. Tebow wasn't unbelievable or unstoppable but he converted some huge 3rd downs both with his legs and with some pinpoint passes.
Here's Bob's last 5 BCS games - all losses.
2004 Sugar Bowl - LOSS 21-14 to LSU - National title game, although OU came into the game off a loss in the Big 12 title game to Kansas State. Split National title that year.
2005 Orange Bowl - LOSS 55-19 to USC - another National title game loss and this one was a blowout. Ou even led 7-0, also scored game's final 9 points, in between they were outscored 55-3.
2007 Fiesta Bowl - LOSS 43-42 to Boise State - Not for the title, but an 11-1 OU lost to Boise State. They were better than a touchdown favorite and lost in OT. OU actually came back from down 28-10 in the 2nd half, scored 25 straight points before allowing the tying TD in regulation on a catch and lateral and then losing in OT on a WR TD toss and the Statue of Liberty 2-pt conversion run.
2008 Fiesta Bowl - LOSS 48-28 to West Virginia -The Mountaineers had an interim coach and future Texans RB Steve Slaton left the game after just 2 touches and Pat White completed only 10 passes, but OU gave up 349 yards rushing. Sam Bradford was mediocre on that night with 242 yds a pick and 2 TDs.
2009 BCS National title game - LOSS 24-14 to Florida - Bradford, the Heisman winner, was again mediocre with 2 picks and 2 TDs and 256 yards. OU's defense did keep the Gators to 24 points, but they did allow 480 yards.
By the way he's 6-4 against the UT in his 10 years, that's not exactly overwhelming - even with a couple of one-sided wins.
What more needs to be said. Great coach, but Big Game Bob is dead
