Rockets Not Taking Flight

Wow, I expect you to follow this blog regularly and this is my first post since January 9th!??!?!?
I guess that's what having another child can do sometimes. Now on to it...

--- At some point the Rockets will start to put some value on winning these games they are so callously giving away. Odds are pretty good that the Rockets are going to finish 5th, 6th or 7th in the West. So in reality the win total is fairly insignificant. As long as they don't play the Lakers in the first round, the team they face in the playoffs will only be marginally better than the Rockets.
But if the Rockets continue to play with a lack of desire in the 4th quarter, then it won't matter. The Rockets have to stop beating themselves and show a killer instinct - playoff games are won and lost in the 4th quarter a lot. If the Rockets play anything like what we've seen here recently, then a 4 game sweep out of the first round is not out of the question.
The challenge for coach Adelman is to figure out how to get the most out of the minutes available to 5 guys splitting time at shooting guard and small forward. McGrady, Artest, Battier, Wafer & Barry need to be productive at the same time for this team to really shine.
I know a lot of people aren't sold on Wafer and maybe he is just a flash in the pan - but play the guy now. Play him until he shows he shouldn't be out there. He is their most effective offense wing player right now and it isn't even close.

The Mosley-Margarito fight was a bit of a shocker, but only b/c Margarito brought nothing. Mosley was being dismissed too easily for a fighter has been a warrior nearly every time he's been in the ring and he's fought everybody. Margarito's win over Cotto is definitely in question because of the alleged hand-wrapping BS. Not good. Also, hope you didn't miss this from the gang at WithLeather.

Also took in the Berto-Collazo fight, while very entertaining, I think it showed that both of those guys are a notch behind the elite fighters in and around their weight class. Berto might be able to beat somebody great if he catches them with a big punch, but he's simply not an elite fighter yet.
