Astros like charity, losing

The vaunted Yankees came to Minute Maid Park for the first-ever regular season game and the Astros were giving outs away like it was going out of style. Lance Berkman tried to steal third - next maybe he should wait for the pitcher to actually make a pitch. Michael Bourn was pegged stealing third with one out in the 6th. Then Bourn pops up a bunt in the 9th with none out and the tying run on first. Ty Wigginton followed that up by attempting to steal second moments later and naturally was gunned down. Once again I go back to this, you only get 27 outs, stop giving them away. All 4 of those plays are just bad baseball plays.

I'll call the Bourn botched sacrifice bunt attempt a bad baseball play primarily b/c I have no earthly idea why Reggie Abercrombie was not brought in to pinch-run for Wigginton. Next to Bourn Abercrombie is the Astros fastest player. Wigginton reached via HBP with none out, down 2-1 to start the 9th. That's a no-brainer switch, but it didn't happen. So instead of watching Abercrombie get to second on his own, Bourn was asked to lay down a bunt on a 98 MPH fastball, not an easy task.

So they wasted a great outing by Shawn Chacon, lost because of one bad pitch by Doug Brocail, and now need a win Saturday or Sunday to avoid their 6th straight series loss.
