Texans draft position

Nothing to play for today for the Texans. Except for pride and much more importantly their draft position.

Entering the day, the Texans were in a group of six 5-10 teams, with draft position tie-breakers determined by strength of victory. Based on that the Texans had the 8th overall selection in the first round of the upcoming 2011 draft. They were also three other 4-11 teams the Texans could still match records with and they see how the tiebreakers shake out. So a lot of things could've fallen into place for the Texans to move closer to the top of the draft board.

Here's what things looked like when the day began.
Team.............W-L...Opp W-L %
1 Carolina........2-13 .575
2 Denver.........4-11 .508
3 Cincinnati....4-11 .579
4 Buffalo.........4-11 .583
5 Arizona........5-10 .458
6 San Fran.....5-10 .492
7 Dallas...........5-10 .521
8 Houston......5-10 .525
9 Detroit........5-10 .550
10 Cleveland..5-10 .575
11 Seattle........6-9 .488
12 Tenn..........6-9 .504
13 Wash..........6-9 .513
14 Minnesota..6-9 .542

Sure the Texans would need to lose today their 11th game for the best case scenario. But here's the update on the early results and how they impact the Texans position.

- Cincinnati bumbled their way to a loss vs Baltimore, so they stay ahead of Houston at 4-12.
- Buffalo got destroyed by the Jets backups. They'll stay ahead of Houston at 4-12
- Denver hosts San Diego at 3:15p
- Arizona is at San Fran at 3:15p (best case would be a tie, then Texans could slide past both)
- Detroit topped Minnesota which is great, since they each finish 6-10.
- Cleveland got massacred by Pittsburgh. They stay at 5-11, Browns will stay behind Texans.

All the other 6 win teams player in the afternoon or later. So check back for those updates.
