Bosh Not Coming to Houston

The suspense likely ended this morning for the Rockets in their pursuit of Chris Bosh, as it's been widely reported and soon will be confirmed by the players themselves that Bosh and Dwyane Wade will be teammates in Miami next year. Ultimately the Rocket's assets to trade might be irrelevant as it's possible it's not even a sign & trade deal that puts Bosh in Miami. At the end of the day, Bosh to Houston was a long shot that made sense to a lot of us here and certainly to the Rockets, but not to Bosh. That's all that matters in this decision.

Plan B should be trying to pry loose Danny Granger or Chris Paul or Al Jefferson or Monta Ellis, etc. Rockets will likely add a backup center and after Rick Adelman had dinner with Brad Miller last week, it will likely be him, just a hunch.

While Bosh & Stoudemire and Wade have been taking meetings all over the country - LeBron James has simply been taking care of his business and now he'll be ready Thursday night to make his choice public.

This reeks of a high school kid milking his football scholarship options and making a spectacle of the whole thing. He missed out on that and may be making up for it here. Truthfully, I think his behavior and that of his "people" has been tremendously quiet, which to me is ideal and deserves to be noted. Then he tosses all that aside and pitches a one-hour special to ESPN??? Narcissistic much?

- Here's some perspective on the role Chris Bosh has played in the slowly unfolding scenarios. It was reported that Bosh wanted to play with LeBron, but has no interest in doing so if it means playing in Cleveland.

Cleveland's latest pitch to LeBron included this 10-minute video plea. Pretty good stuff.

Yesterday we had the outstanding police report from the DUI arrest of now former Georgia AD Damon Evans. Now here's the stuff you just can't make up. He was part of an ad campaign aimed at Georgia students, encouraging them not to...wait for it...drink and drive. Yes of course he did. Here's the video...

- A fan fell from the second deck last night in Arlington while trying to grab a foul ball. The game was delayed for about 16 minutes as medical personnel rushed to his aid and tended to those who had been hurt in the fall. He was taken to the hospital and miraculously should be fine in a couple of weeks. The fall was not captured by the TV cameras, but the video clearly shows the reactions of the umpires and the players who witnessed the unexpected and shocking fall.

Here's the Indians radio broadcast of the foul ball fall.
Some thoughts from Rangers president Nolan Ryan and some of the players and additional video here.

-You may have missed this late last week - most people did. The NCAA is about set to announce exactly how they are going to format the expanded 68-team field for the NCAA hoops tournament this March. Read the options they tossed around here.

More coming later...
